Cosmic Me privacy policy
This policy applies to Cosmic Me on Android. The operator is MinosSoft.
Last updated: 2026-09-19
1. About this policy
Cosmic Me is an astronomy app provided by MinosSoft. This policy describes the current Android version. It does not require an account. MinosSoft does not operate a server that receives your profile or observing log.
2. Information used by the app
The app uses the profile details you enter, including your name, birthday, optional birth time, gender, height and weight. It also uses family entries, observing records, saved coordinates and your preferences to personalise calculations and displays.
Location is requested when you choose location detection. Saved coordinates support sky positions and local viewing information. The app does not continuously track your location in the background. Without saved coordinates, calculations use the default location in Seoul.
Notification permission supports local reminders. Image sharing uses Android’s sharing tools and temporary image files. You choose the receiving app or destination.
3. Device storage and retention
Your profile, family entries, observing records and preferences are stored on your device. Profile storage includes a previous local copy for recovery after a failed save. Data remains until it is removed from the app or Android removes the app’s storage.
The Android app disables cloud backup. On Android 12 and later, the configured rules allow shared preferences to transfer when you initiate a device-to-device migration. Actual transfer behaviour depends on Android and the device maker.
Generated share images may be kept in temporary app storage, and copies that you save or send remain in their chosen destinations.
4. Connections and external services
Core astronomy calculations run on the device. To show cloud-cover information, the app requests weather data from Open-Meteo using coordinates rounded to two decimal places. Your name, birthday, weight, family entries and observing log are not included in that request. The weather service also receives the network IP address used for the connection.
Open-Meteo states that service logs can include IP addresses and, for troubleshooting, submitted coordinates, and that these logs are deleted after 90 days. Its own terms explain this processing.
Opening online help, store pages, email, sharing destinations or the system’s store review prompt connects you to the selected browser, app or service. Their privacy practices apply to those interactions. The current version has no advertising SDK or integrated subscription purchase.
5. Your choices and deletion
You can edit your profile and remove family members inside the app. You can deny or revoke location and notification permissions in Android settings, and turn reminders off in the app.
To delete all app-local data, use Android Settings → Apps → Cosmic Me → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the app. Device-maker labels can differ. Clearing data restarts setup and removes your locally stored profile and records.
Clearing app data or uninstalling does not delete images you previously saved or sent, or copies transferred to another device. Delete those copies from their destinations.
6. Family information and children
Cosmic Me offers astronomy information and family birthday comparisons. It does not require a child’s account or send family profile entries to MinosSoft. A parent or guardian should supervise any child’s use of location, notifications and sharing, and decide what family information to enter or share.
7. Policy changes
This policy will be updated when the app’s data practices change. The update date appears on this page. For questions about Cosmic Me or this policy, contact MinosSoft at the email address below.
